In November 2018 The Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association (AEMA) awarded Albina Asphalt’s Vancouver Terminal 1 with AEMA’s 2018 Excellence in Manufacturing Award. This achievement was formally recognized at AEMA’s annual awards ceremony during its 46th Annual Meeting on February 21, 2018, in Cancun, Mexico.
About the Excellence in Manufacturing Award
The AEMA Excellence in Manufacturing Award is presented to qualifying plants that meet or exceed AEMA requirements demonstrating best practices in all areas of manufacturing. In addition to providing a measurement of best practices, the award offers plants an avenue for continuous improvement, a demonstration of good corporate citizenship, and a way to display community friendly operations.
AEMA Awards Committee Co-Chair Bob Huitt, Russell Standard Corp., notes,
“Earning the Excellence in Manufacturing Award demonstrates a company’s dedication to excellence in all areas of asphalt emulsion manufacturing and tangibly recognizes the company as a contributor to the community.”
How Recipients are Chosen
Award recipients are chosen based on a self-assessment application process, reviewed area criteria include plant appearance, operations, quality control, laboratory, environmental practices, safety, and community relations.
Applicants must submit photos of various areas of their plant and signed affidavits from plant and division managers as well as an outside third party. All applications are reviewed by an Award Committee composed of industry experts to ensure the accuracy of assessments.
