GLEN ELLYN, IL, [December 1, 2023] – The Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturing Association (AEMA) is pleased to recognize Albina Fuel Company’s Vancouver Terminal 1 for earning AEMA’s 2023 Excellence in Manufacturing Award as a Silver recipient. This achievement will be formally recognized at AEMA’s annual awards ceremony during its 51st Annual Meeting which will be held in Palm Harbor, Florida on February 22, 2024.
The AEMA Excellence in Manufacturing Award is presented to qualifying plants that meet or exceed AEMA requirements demonstrating best practices in all areas of manufacturing. In addition to providing a measurement of best practices, the award offers plants an avenue for continuous improvement, a demonstration of good corporate citizenship, and a way to display community friendly operations. AEMA Award Committee Chair Greg Arntson, Albina Asphalt stated, “The Excellence in Manufacturing award is a mark of distinction, recognizing a company’s excellence and dedication in the field. As a Silver recipient of this award, Vancouver Terminal 1 has continued to uphold a high level of industry standards for the communities they serve.”
After renewing a plant for five years at the Bronze Level, qualifying plants can apply for the Silver Level. Based on a self-assessment application process, reviewed area criteria include plant appearance, operations, quality control, laboratory, environmental practices, safety, and community relations. Applicants must submit photos of various areas of their plant and signed affidavits from plant and division managers as well as an outside third party. All applications are reviewed by an Award Committee composed of industry experts to ensure accuracy of assessments.
